  1. It is amazing how our rural students depend upon technology for a variety of interactions. With Lewis County being such a small school, and since they were classmates your nephew and my daughter-in-law would know each other.

It will be interesting to see how technology becomes integrated in his course of study. I wonder if chemistry majors are still REQUIRED to memorize the periodic table? I'm sure that there is an app to make the information available quickly.

  2. It seems common for older teens to rely on their phones for interaction. I've heard, " I don't know what I'd do without my phone !". I really enjoyed reading your story and the statements in relation to using apps for homework, and his parents trusting him to be responsible for managing his time and work. :)

  3. The phone is a constant thread throughout these case studies. We should be thinking about how to utilize that technology as well!

  4. I have read most of the case studies now and find that the older boys really would suffer if they did not have a cell phone. Your guy even thinks that not having a cell phone would have an impact on his relationship with his girl friend. It is very interesting because I can see this with my own two sons (17 and 20). They could not live without their phones.

  5. I related to the cell phone usage as well! I think kids these days are so used to cell phones that they would be lost without them. I grew up without cell phones, but could'nt emagine if I did'nt have one now. I think it is important to build off of what these kids know and love as every day life.
